Nine bands line up for 1st Inter Ward Beat Contest Mokokchung

After weeks of soft yuletide songs, the soft pop music around the town, the Temulonger Telok is all set to rock the town with some hard rock songs at Town Hall Mokokchung on Saturday night as it organizes the first Inter Ward Beat Contest Mokokchung where nine bands representing different wards will face-off to take away the coveted prize.   The contest, which is being organized on the theme: Music a soul, a life to everything, aims to bring back the aura of eigthties rock music back to the town. Rock music is a genre of music that has inspired a generation of musicians in the town and most of the veteran and professional musicians in the town have grown up listening to the eighties rock music.   Altogether, nine bands from nine wards/colonies have already registered for the contest. The Wards are: Aongza, Alempang, Dilong, Salangtem, Kichutip, Majakong, Artang, Sangtemla and Penli Ward. The bands are participating under the full support of the respective ward councils and the concert is expected to be one of the biggest rock concerts in the town in recent times.   Besides the heavy music, the organizers have invited dignitaries to witness the concert. Retired Development Commissioner, Dr Temsuwati will be the chief guest while the Chairman & MD of REM Group, Temjen Imna Along Longkumer will grace the event as the guest of honor. The concert will be judged by a panel consisting of veteran musicians in the town.   However, it would not be just a night to create a platform for the young and aspiring rock musicians but a time for the veterans to relive their past associations with the eighties rock music. Professional musicians of the town will also take to the stage as guest artists which surely will enthrall and mesmerize the audience.   The programme starts at 4:00 PM and tickets will be available at the gate.   Convener, Impochang in a press release informed that Temulonger Telok which is formed by a group of youths, mostly musicians and entrepreneurs, aspires to make this Inter-Ward Beat Contest as a yearly event to create a platform for the young musicians in the town. Towards this end, the Temulonger Telok will be awarding cash prize, certificates and a running trophy to the ultimate winner. Moreover, the Temulonger Telok also has plans to create more avenues for the participants of the beat contest.
