The third Yajen Aier Award ceremony organized by the Asetkong Mungdang under the theme ‘Reinvigorating Teaching and Learning’ for meritorious students was held at Asetkong Mungdang Senden Salang, Kubolong, Mokokchung on October 5 where nine students and one teacher were presented with the award.
The recipients of the Yajen Aier Award 2022 are NBSE/HSSLC topper Benjongsangla Jamir of Little Star HSS, Dimapur; NBSE/HSLC topper S Alimen Ozukum of St Joseph HSS, Chümoukedima; Meyasenla Longkumer, Lima Aier HSS, Dimapur; Chuba T Aier, St John Hr Sec Residential School, Dimapur; Temjenkala Aier, Northfield HSS, Kohima; NBSE/HSLC Ao subject topper Temsüyanger Walling Clark Memorial HSS, Impur and Meyimangyang, Teacher of NBSE/HSLC Ao subject topper.
Award was also presented to the best performing student among the schools in Asetkong range during the year 2021 & 2021-22 where Katina of class 8, Lensen Ozukum of class 9 and Temsüyanger Walling of class 10 all from CMHSS, Impur were awarded.
Earlier, addressing the programme, A Nungsang Jamir, former president, Asetkong Mungdang, said that the people of Asetkong Range have always excelled in the fields of education and religion and urged the youths to continue following in the footsteps of the ancestors with greater goals and aspirations as the world is progressing immensely.
He exhorted the young students to do their best in competitive examinations like the NPSC & UPSC and other fields, citing the quote, “Always shoot for the moon; if you miss you'll hit the stars.”
In a brief word of appreciation, Guru S Pangyang Ozukum, President, Asetkong Mungdang, said that in the next academic session, he would personally sponsor an award for the top-performing high school in Asetkong Range, Mokokchung.
He continued by praising the students for bringing honour to the range and said that even though Asetkong was a small range, the ancestors had always been pioneers. He also praised the range school teachers for encouraging and guiding their students to improve their academic performances.
