DIMAPUR, MAY 17 (MExN): The Nagaland Joint Christian Forum (NJCF) has called for a statewide prayer in two different phases in view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
A press release from the NJCF Vice President, Rev Dr N Paphino said “In a time such as this, churches are in prayer for God’s intervention. The Covid-19 has taught us so many things, communities coming together helping another and believers seeking God and depending on Him more than ever. We are also learning new things each day. Coronavirus is real and it is cruel.”
“The one thing we know what to do is to follow the SOPs. Coronavirus is real, it is cruel and it has shattered our life, our family and our community. We live in fear but we must continue to trust God and seek his mercy in a situation such as this,” the NJCF stated.
It called for a morning phase prayer walk (4:00-5:00am).
“In this prayer sloth, we request all the pastors, deacons and church workers for prayer walk in the colony, village and towns in prayer for God’s protection. There will be no gathering but by maintaining a safe distance walk around and pray over the colony, village and towns. Claim God’s protection over our people. Pray for the sick and the families that are going through a difficult time,” the NJCF proposed.
In the evening phase, the NJCF called for a family prayer from 5:00pm to 6:00pm.
For this phase, the NJCF asked leaders of the denomination to prepare prayer points and disseminate the information to the pastors. It called for prayers of thanksgiving, confession, for special needs, national leaders and policy makers, state leaders and policy makers, district administration, for the sick and COVID-19 patients, for the global community, bereaved families, frontline workers, for the epicenters of the virus (Dimapur and Kohima), farmers, for children who are outside the State, and for church leaders.
The NJCF appealed to each denomination to prepare a chain of prayer for the church for the month of June.
