Dimapur, September 30 (MExN): The Nagaland Judicial Officers Association (NJOA) held its 15th general conference and elected new office bearers at the Law Guest House, Dimapur on September 30.
Speaking as the guest speaker, Justice LS Jamir, Judge, Gauhati High Court pointed out that in this time and age, when the fate of the people lies with the Judiciary; the Judicial Officers should not let the people lose their hope but give justice from every possible level.
He said that the integrity of a Judicial Officer is the most important aspect and urged the officers to maintain the highest degree of integrity so that there is no quarter of report of impropriety.
Stating that protracted trials would have the biggest effect on the weaker section of the society, Justice LS Jamir urged the officers to avoid delays and deliver timely justice.
He further stated that at a time when the society is fighting against corruption, let judiciary be the weapon and let us be there to fight against it.
Justice LS Jamir maintained that the conduct in the Court and the way that we live should instil hope amongst the people that judiciary will save them.
He also said that a separate High Court for Nagaland is mandated as per the Constitution of India and we cannot be deprived of our rights and urged the judicial officers to take it up appropriately for the benefit of the State.
New office bearers elected
During the second session, the election to the new tenure 2017-2020 was held where Neiko Kano, Principal District and Sessions Judge, Mon was elected as the new President, Lonshithung, District and Sessions Judge, Phek as Vice President, Inalo Zhimomi, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Mon as the General Secretary, Somet Chang, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Peren as the Assistant General Secretary and Wonchibeni Lotha, JMFC, Dimapur as the Treasurer.
