Mokokchung, August 26 (MExN): The Naga Mothers Association (NMA) today condemned the violence against a minor girl by some women in Mokokchung on August 20.
The NMA in a press release issued stated that the Association is “aghast” on the violence against a minor girl by some women in Mokokchung on August 20, which was recorded in a video and later went viral on social media.
It held that the Association strongly condemns the incident of violence on the young girl by the three accused, “two of whom are women themselves,” further stating that moral policing and violent acts by taking the law into ones hands are “criminal activities.”
The NMA while lauding the prompt action of Mokokchung Police in arresting the perpetrators appealed for justice for the young woman for outraging her modesty and demanded to punish those who recorded the video which went viral, as per the law.
It further appealed the Nagaland State Child Rights Commission and the Nagaland Commission for Women, to do necessary inquiry on the case so that justice would be prevailed. It also urged to provide counseling and proper rehabilitation to the victim.
