Naga Mothers’ Association (NMA) today filed an FIR against unknown person(s) on criminal charges for disparaging a woman’s dignity and rights.

A copy of the FIR read that some youths, purportedly from Old Minister’s Hill Colony, Kohima, had taken a video of two youths in a compromising position and made it viral.

NMA in their FIR stated that everyone had the right to privacy and therefore the youths had violated the girl’s rights when they took video of interrogating her and shaming her publicly.

It went on to say that if there was any violation on moral codes, the same could have been reported to the respective relatives or community of the two persons shamed in the video.

While terming the act of filming and releasing of the same as a criminal and illegal act, NMA urged the police to take appropriate action as per the law in accordance with cyber crime.

Meanwhile, Old Ministers’ Hill Colony Panchayat Chairperson, Er Vineizo Nienu disclosed on phone that they had no knowledge of any such incident taking place in their colony.

He said they had made several enquiries however they could not trace out any person who matched the identity of the persons in the viral video.

He further said that even some police personnel had called up to enquire about the case.

During the time of filing the report, NMA Advisor and Police PRO were unavailable for comments in regard to the case although attempts were made to contact them through the phone.
