DIMAPUR, AUGUST 29 (MExN): Responding to the invitation of the NSCN (K) which was announced through the local papers, a delegation of the Naga Mothers Association (NMA) went to Mon and met leaders of the NSCN (K), it was informed.
“The NMA despite its heavy schedules, over and above its household chores, rushed to Mon town as invited, with leaders from some of its units on August 19, 2006 and stayed till the 21st as per their stipulated time and conveniences”, stated a press communiqué issued by Vivi Nyuthe, Secretary, NMA.
The NMA informed that during the course of discussions with the NSCN (K) leaders, “some very pointed questions were raised and amongst others NMA was asked to clarify some reports which were published by the goodwill mission team”, the Secretary stated.
However, having being taken by surprise about the existence of reports which were again attributed to the NMA, it was mutually agreed that NMA should be given the opportunity to go into the details of the report and to clarify whatsoever and wherever it was found to be necessary for which an emergency meeting of the NMA unit was convened on August 29 at Kohima, it was informed.
After going through the details of the report, the NMA clarified that in the first place, when members of the good will mission from America led by Grace Collins visited Nagaland, the NMA had happily received them and took them around “which is the least any Naga can do to visiting guests”. “And as they also wanted a first hand account of what happened during the last more than half a century period of political struggle, we took them to Matikhru and Oinam Villages, which have its own history, which everyone is aware of”.
As such, the NMA pointed out that it was making it clear that whatever might have been written or reported “are their own sources of information” and that it had nothing to do with their reports or finding.
