NNC (Apex Body), NSCN Unification (Neokpao) sign MoU on Naga unity

KOHIMA, AUGUST 7 (MExN): The Government of the People's Republic of Nagaland/NSCN Unification and the GPRN/NNC (Apex Body) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at advancing Naga reconciliation, unity and cooperation.

According to a press release issued by the GPRN/NNC (Apex Body), the MoU was signed on August 5 by the Government of the People's Republic of Nagaland/NSCN Unification under the leadership of President Nokpao Konyak and Ato Kilonser Alezo Venuh, and the GPRN/NNC (Apex Body) led by Francis Kikon.

The two sides agreed to work together on matters concerning the "political, social and economic growth of the Nagas in general and that of Nagaland in particular."

The MoU also seeks to promote "unity and solidarity for the peace and wellbeing of the Nagas" and create a "congenial, growth-oriented progressive environment" for the present and future generations.

According to the release, the parties further resolved to work towards socio-political stability and address grievances of the public arising from "any unprecedented situation and circumstances."

A key aspect of the agreement is a commitment by both parties to work together towards ensuring a political solution with the Government of India and its implementation.

The GPRN/NNC (Apex Body) stated that both parties "stand firm and united" on the common interests and objectives outlined in the MoU.
