NNC-PB ZLR-R, AMN condemn shooting in Peren

Dimapur, September 6 (MExN): The Naga National Council-Parent Body Zeliangrong Region, Assam, Manipur and Nagaland (NNC-PB ZLR-R, AMN) have condemned the alleged attack on Lamhainamdi village under Peren district on September 6 by some unidentified personnel.

A press release issued by MIP Cell, NNC-PB ZLR-R (AMN) said that “we are protecting and will protect and safeguard our land at any cost.”

The release stated that the attackers used automatic guns, burnt down houses and the Church. However, the villagers escaped from the indiscriminate firing.

It added that the Zeliangrong people and their lands are scattered in three different states – Assam, Manipur and Nagaland, and living peacefully in “our own ancestral land.”

It said that the Zeliangrong Naga National workers and the people will not bow down from “encroachers,” while adding that it will stand its ground “till justice is delivered and the ownership of land is protected.”

It further urged the authorities in concern to deliver justice by safeguarding the ownership of land at the earliest.
“If any untoward incident happened, the state government and district administrators will be responsible,” it cautioned.

Such action, it said, tantamounts to endorsing “the Nagas to fight among us with bloody tragedy when efforts are on to bring peace in the Naga society.”

Meanwhile, the release appealed the Naga people and the Naga political groups “to seriously take a call on whether the Nagas really want peace or war among us.”
