
Dimapur, February 8 (MExN): The Naga National Council, Sumi Region today clarified a news item that appeared in the local dailies on February 7 under the caption, ‘NNC cautions imposter’ and said that as requested by the Sumi Hoho Kohima to exempt the schools and other establishments, nothing have been taken or received by the NNC, Sumi Region.
The NNC Sumi Region was responding to a press statement issued on February 6 by NNC Finance Committee member, N. Niky Angami, who cautioned the police and public about an ‘imposter’, K.V. Sumi who is reportedly collecting and demanding a huge sum of money from schools, business establishment, offices etc. all under the name of Chairman NNC, Sumi Region.
Clarifying this in a press statement, the Information & Publicity Wing of the Sumi Region NNC, said that the ‘Central Body’ has not looked after the region in every aspect, and have not taken up the Sumi Region’s issue seriously up to this date, and as such the region have been facing untold financial difficulties.
Hence, the Sumi Region decided to seek financial assistance in form of contribution and donations, and approached few bodies/establishment in Kohima and Dimapur as these two places happens to be the home of various Naga tribes in general, the release stated. “In the matter of the above mentioned column the Sumi Hoho Kohima, in particular requested the region to kindly excuse the schools and other establishments. To honour the Hoho’s on behalf request the matter was withdrawn and nothing have been taken or received by the Sumi Region,”
In this regard, the release said that the news item that appeared on February 7 “from most of the leading News dailies can be clarified directly from the Sumi Hoho, Kohima”. “It is important to note that this is “Sumi Region’s” issue and is not in favor of an individual. (K Vikato Zhimo) as appeared on the news column,” the release stated and further asked to confirm any issues relating with the Sumi Region from the ‘region in particular’.
