DIMAPUR, JANUARY 30 (MExN): The NNC/FGN issued a joint declaration reaffirming their commitment to Naga independence and the historical Plebiscite of May 16, 1951. The statement declared that "Nagas are one, with one goal, one people and one Nation."
The declaration stressed that the NNC/FGN, as the "mandated Government," had "upheld the Plebiscite of May 16, 1951," which supported the Naga Independence declaration of August 14, 1947. The statement had further asserted that their "commitment lay in upholding our historical and political rights that our Great leader A.Z. Phizo had paved," adding that any deviation from this path "undermined the painful sufferings and sacrifices of our forefathers and the Principles and objectives of what we had been standing for all throughout the years."
The NNC/FGN maintained that "the Naga Nation had not accepted the Indian Union and would never be part of India." It added that the leadership of the NNC/FGN continued to be under the guidance of NNC President Thupuswuyi Keyho and Gen (Retd.) TM Rhakho Kedahge FGN. The statement concluded by emphasizing their unwavering resolve, stating that they would “never deviate from the dreams and aspirations of our people for which thousands had paid the ultimate price.”
