No CBI for NPSC case, says DAN government

DIMAPUR, NOV 29 (MExN): In a huge disappointment for the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) and its federating units, the Nagaland Cabinet, which met today, has decided that the NPSC bribery case need not be referred to the CBI while reasoning that the trial before the DC (Judicial) Dimapur is in its final stages. The DAN Cabinet also argued that keeping in view the constitutional and statutory provisions, which bar double prosecution and trial, it was felt that the NPSC case need not be referred to the CBI.

Pointing out that the matter was thoroughly discussed by the Cabinet, it was decided to direct a team of officers headed by the Chief Secretary to explain the details of the discussion to the office bearers of NSF by convening a meeting tomorrow itself.

Meanwhile, responding swiftly to today’s Cabinet decision turning down its demand, the NSF has decided to start its agitation from December 1, Friday. In this regard, the NSF has called upon all the federating units, subordinate bodies, schools and colleges and all concern people for active co-operation and support towards ‘cleansing’ the NPSC. The decision to start the agitation was informed through a press communiqué issued by Sashimar Jamir, Secretary Education of the NSF.
