No COVID-19 case in Nagaland

The government today dismissed rumours of a COVID-19 patient in Nagaland as false. 


A bulletin from the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare said that the rumour of a COVID-19 patient admitted in NHAK is “absolutely false.” “Till date, the state is yet to encounter any suspect case and send a sample for confirmation for COVID-19,” the bulletin stated and urged the public to refrain from posting false news.


Nagaland Health Minister, S Pangnyu Phom also clarified on Twitter: “Rumors are spreading regarding admission of COVID-19 patient in NHAK. Please stand verified that the news is absolutely false & baseless.” The health department is “monitoring the situation closely and shall inform the citizens on any developments,” he added. 


As of March 4, the health department informed that 198 travellers are under surveillance. Of the 19 people quarantined, 9 persons have been cleared, leaving 10 still under quarantine. It was further informed that no sample has been processed for testing as of March 4. 


The Integrated Disease Surviellance Project (IDSP), Nodal Officer for the State, meanwhile informed that all persons who were under quarantine showed no symptoms of COVID-19.
