DIMAPUR, AUGUST 28 (MExN): Students of a government high school in Anatongre under Kiphire district have refused to attend classes in protest against the non availability of math and science teachers in their school.
Drawing attention to this, the Anatongre Students’ Union, Village Education Committee and Anatongre Village Council has demanded the immediate deployement of math and science teachers at the Government High School (GHS), Anatongre, under Kiphire district. In a letter to the Principal Director for School Education, the three organizations informed that the class 9 and 10 students of GHS Anatongre have been expressing their resentment against the non-availability of science and mathematics teachers by not attending the classes for the past days.
“Despite having encouraged them to be patient and wait for the subject teachers to come, they have already shown resentment that they were not passing the exams. The future of these students are now lying nowhere. It is a clear fact that even if the teachers are deployed at this end of session, we don’t expect them to cover the syllabus,” the letter pointed out.
The letter said that the status of the school and the future of the students cannot be overlooked. The organizations informed that despite numerous demands since the start of the academic session, the department is yet to deploy the required teachers, “which is why patience of the students and community has run out and the result is best seen today.”
They informed that the “board result keeps scoring nil for many years due to non-availability of subject teachers.” The organizations urged the department to intervene so that the students are reinvigorated to attend their classes.
