‘No more delay tactics’

NPCC calls for dissolution of State Assembly; Urges government to pave way for solution

Dimapur, June 13 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) on Sunday called for the State Assembly to be dissolved in favour of the solution to the Indo-Naga political talks.

In a press statement on June 13, NPCC President K Therie asserted that “There is no need for Nagaland State Assembly, JLF or Core Committee to facilitate political negotiation anymore.”

Highlighting that the Governor and Interlocutor has said that talks are over, the NPCC President added that “it cannot be a joke.”

Taking note of the NSCN (IM)’s statement cautioning the Core Committee not to intervene in the Framework Agreement, he said that “there is nothing to intervene.” Stakeholders have concurred with regard to the Agreed Points of the WC, NNPGs on November 17, 2017 and have demanded solution, he added.

The NPCC President accused the State government of delaying the solution since September 2019, alleging that it is “overworking to delay in the name of facilitation only to protect their chairs.”

“Do not play any more delay tactics. 18 years of DAN-I, II and III have been only of betrayal,” Therie added.

He further claimed that except for the Congress party in Nagaland, all other political parties, both ‘ruling’ and ‘opposition’, have joined in the delay tactics.

Reminding the government of its promise to pave the way for “honourable and acceptable solution”, Therie said that if they are honest and not traitors, the government should dissolve the Assembly in favour of solution that has been arrived under Framework Agreement ( August 3, 2015) and Agreed Points (November 17, 2017).

“Leave it to the Government of India and the negotiating teams. The solution will be implemented without delay and election called for,” he asserted.
