Dimapur, Sept 25 (MExN): Reacting to a statement made by Yamhon Area Public Organization in connection with Yamhon area public leaders supporting the DAN government, Yamhon and Liphi village authorities have asserted that Khonbemo Jami, President of YAPO and his associates have nothing to do with the decision and that any individual or organization can support any candidate or party one chooses to.
A statement issued by Yamhon New Village Council GB Samuel Tungoe, Liphi Village Council GB Anyimo Tungoe and Yamhon New Village Council GB Khonbemo Tsanglao highlighted several points in reaction of the YAPO’s stand. The points are (given verbatim):
(a) An individual or collective affiliation to any candidate we support and for whom we have our confidence cannot be questioned by any organization.
(b) We are not aware of who have elected Mr Khonbemo Jami as President of YAPO where and when he was elected is not known to us.
(c) It is high time that we should not only appreciate and expect development from the government pretending (sic) our support but instead we must take the responsibility to identify and support a dedicated leader whom we can trust to represent our people.
(d) Mr Khonbemo Jami, President of YAPO must be aware that the area comprising 14 recognized villages which has 2633 plus electorates, has no proper road connectivity, no medical facility, no water supply and no electricity for the last 43 years of statehood.
(e) Mr Khonbemo Jami, the president of YAPO must tender his apology to Shri Mhonjan Lotha, ex-candidate for unnecessarily implicating him which is derogatory to his integrity.
(f) The chairmen, ex-chairmen, GBs and ex-GBs of Yamhon area altogether 11 of us had expressed our assurance to support the DAN government and the candidature of Shri Mhonjan Lotha, member CEC (NPF) with our own decision which does not require consulting YAPO for the decision since our press release does not attract the YAPO in any manner.
