Non-fare revenue earnings increase significantly: NFR

Guwahati, February (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has recorded significant increase in non-fare revenue earnings when compared previous years, an official release informed. 

 


Earnings on this segment are mainly from commercial publicity in spaces within railway premises and from ticket checking and un-booked luggage/parcel related cases. 

 


As on January 2020, commercial publicity earnings increased to Rs. 409.92 lakh, an increase by 195.92% when compares with earnings of Rs. 138.52 lakh in January, 2019, it said. 

 


It includes earnings from publicity of products or schemes in coaches, wagons, engines apart from railway station premises, Road over bridges etc. where visibility of advertisements is maximum, added the release issued by NFR Chief Public Relations Officer Subhanan Chanda.

 


Similarly, earnings of NFR from ticket checking and un-booked luggage related cases also increased by 19.83 % in comparison to last year. 

 


This year upto January 2020, NFR detected 866570 cases where passengers were found to be travelling either without proper ticket or without ticket or with un-booked luggage.

 


 Accordingly, penalty along with fare was recovered by the checking team from those passengers, the release said, adding the earnings from such checking increased to Rs. 57.35 crore upto January, 2020 in comparison to earnings of Rs. 47.86 crore upto January, 2019 in last financial year.
