The Congress leader and five time chief minister said while addressing to party workers at Congress Bhawan here on Friday. He said that the Opposition parties are not a big threat to Congress winning the next assembly elections. “Mizo National Front (MNF) has been helpless and became desperate and BJP is not a big rival. Other opposition parties including Mizoram People’s Movement (ZPM) too are no big threat and will not be able to dent our chances,” Lal Thanhawla said. Making a mockery remark at ZPM's chief ministerial candidate Lalduhoma’s comment that he would take effort to become a "super chief minister", Lal Thanhawla said, “I wonder how he will become a super chief minister with his weaknesses.” Lal Thanhawla then alleged that the ZPM leader was a liar, who simply talked about things which he had never done or he would never do. “He (Lalduhoma) might have a wide range of experience in the State’s politics as he had joined all the political parties before and he is now about to leave the party which he had formed,” sarcastic Lal Thanhawla said. He then said that his party has better future than others as opposition parties are helpless to point out the faults of Congress leaders and their corrupt practices.
