Dimapur, Dec 5 (MExN): Reminding that the Nagas have lived in fear and frustration for too long a time, the Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) has pointed out that now is the time for them to reconcile so that peace is attained finally even as the people partake in the joy of the birth of Jesus Christ.
“Now is the time for us all to reconcile with one another; our people had lived in fear, frustration and apprehension for too long; it is time now for Naga people as believers of Jesus Christ to come out of this bondage to partake the joy of life that God had blessed Nagaland” ‘Gen. Retd.’ Viyalie Metha, Kedahge of the FGN, stated in a message.
Extending goodwill greetings to the people, the Kedahge appealed for restraint from ‘causing misunderstandings,’ in order to attain peace and tranquility. It asserted that Nagaland is a nation and it is the endeavor of the FGN to protect and preserve the “country” through the principle of non-violence. The FGN also welcomed the efforts of the Nagaland Baptist Churches Council (NBCC) in calling a nation-wide prayer for peace and reconciliation. “I assure my people that the Federal Government of Nagaland shall not be found wanting in this endeavor. Wishing Nagaland a very merry Christmas and prosperous New Year” the Kedahge added.
The FGN at its Tatar Hoho’s 57th session held November 27-28 last, had resolved that “peace and tranquility prevail in our land along with Christmas season and happy New Year 2007 and that the national policy of Non-violence is steadfastly respected throughout our country”.
