Dimapur, December 23 (MExN): The Nagaland People’s Front today declared that the DAN Alliances is absolutely intact and at the same time termed the Nagaland Progressive Alliances (NPA) claiming of enjoying the majority support of 30 members as, “Joke of the Year”.
A press statement issued by the NPF party Associate Press Secretary, Shilumar, while making the stand of the NPF clear in the recent political crisis in the state, said that the Congress party had exercised every available option to topple the fully mandated and constitutionally installed DAN Government for the past almost five years, “which was confirmed by more other than I Imkong CLP Leader while interacting with media persons outside Raj Bhavan on December 14, 2007”.
“The Congress Party collaborated with arm elements, instigated some disgruntle NPF Legislators (now disqualified) and moved a non-confidence motion (NCM) on December 13 came and went. No-confidence Motion was out rightly rejected in the floor of the house with 23 members voting against the motion and only 19 members voting in favour of the motion,” Shilumar alleged.
Ridiculing the grounds on which the Congress party and the DAN defectors seek the dismisal of the DAN Government i.e. inflation and the failure to maintain law and order by the DAN Government; Shilumar said that Nagaland rank number 3 in law and order in the whole country, much way ahead of Congress ruled states viz Delhi, Manipur, Assam etc. according to a recent study conducted by an eminent economists Bibek Debroy and Laveesh Bhandari, published by India Today as a cover story released on September 17, 2007.
About inflation, Shilumar admitted that prices of essential commodities are rising within the permissible range; however he asserted that the rate of inflation in Nagaland is much more below the national average.
Shilumar pointed out that that inflation is not only local phenomena, but national and international phenomena. Nagaland, been a consumer state, the rate of inflation depend upon many factors such as transportation, inter-state taxes, political and economic situation of the producing states, unpredictable forces of the mother nature in the producing states etc, he said.
About the recent spate of political defection in the DAN Government, the release wondered whether Huska Sumi and Deo Nukhu, who were elected in the general election 2003 from JD (U) and Samata Party on strong anti-Congress wave and who were, till recently, a member in the DAN Government, are leader for a change as claimed or ‘mere power-mongering elements’. “Huska Sumi and Deo Nukhu squarely fulfill the latter,” the release said.
About the resignation of Senior Congress MLA, Rokonicha, the release said that the resignation of the veteran politician on December 16 “from the membership of the 10th NLA and the Congress Party, speaks volume of their adulterous campaign”.
The release also stated that at a press conference on December 16 at Kohima, I Imkong CLP Leader have squarely blame Shivraj Patil, Union Home Minister and one of the senior most Congress leader for unnecessarily applying delaying tactics and alleged that Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio have a close link with Shivraj Patil.
In this regard, Shilumar asserted that the statement of I Imkong explicitly demonstrates the ‘insatiable desire of the CLP Leader to become the Chief Minister’. “Instead of blaming Union Minister, CLP Leader should take note that Union Home Minister is not unnecessarily delaying but endorsing the legality of the Speaker and the Government,” the release stated.
Asserting that that the DAN government is the only mandated and constitutionally installed Government in the State with present effective strength of 24 members and with 18 members in the opposition bench, Shilumar wondered how on earth the NPCC can state that the DAN Government is ‘a desperate and minority government’.
“Have the whole lot of NPCC lost their sanity?” the release stated, “The so-called Nagaland Progressive Alliances (NPA) claimed of enjoying the majority support of 30 members can be term as, “Joke of the Year”. The NPA percept that Union Government can be convince by parading disqualified MLAs and defectors but the indefinite postponement of Union cabinet meeting which was about to discuss the Congress created political crises in the State doused the supposed political conflagration.” In this connection, the release stated that the members of the “so-called NPA”, after confusing the innocent general public, are getting confused and just for the sake of enjoying the luxury of seven star hotels, they are staying back at Delhi.
The release asserted that the very day ‘the adulterous campaign of the defectors’ and miscreants MLAs started, they are afraid to face the electorates.
“May be, this is the reason why the members of the so-called NPA are enjoying the Christmas at Delhi away from loved and dear ones,” the release commented. “The Nagaland People’s Front would like to state that DAN Alliances is absolutely intact, the DAN Government is solidly stable, alive and kicking,” the release asserted.
