Urges GoI to probe fund utilization during last 10 years of DAN govt
DIMAPUR, APRIL 11 (MExN): A joint meeting of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) held today has come out with a six-point resolution with focus on an early solution to the protracted Indo-Naga issue. The NPCC reiterated its commitment to the people of Nagaland that it stands for an honourable political settlement as the first priority.
“The Naga people have been expecting early solution of the long standing Naga problem but it continues to defy solution. This meeting therefore strongly urges the Government of India to resolve it within the shortest possible time,” stated the joint resolution issued by SI Jamir, President and Medokul Sophie, General Secretary NPCC.
The NPCC has also urged the Government of India to have at least preliminary enquiry into the utilizations of the Centrally Sponsored Schemes during the last ten years by the DAN government. The NPCC demand for a probe came against the backdrop of what it termed as shocking and amazing to witness “incredible money power exhibited and demonstrated by the ruling party in the just concluded Assembly election”.
“This election was in total contravention of NBCC Clean Election Campaign where the fate of the representative was decided by money power and less on issues confronting Naga Society”, stated the NPCC resolution while adding that Nagaland is a poor and resource starved state, but the money in terms of nearly thousand crores used by the NPF calls for serious public scrutiny.
Taking cognizance of the gross violation of the code of conduct by several NPF Candidates when crores of money, arms and ammunitions were seized without taking any consequent action, the NPCC resolved to send a delegation to Delhi to take up the matters with the Election commissioner of India.
Further, it was unanimously resolved to immediately revamp the NPCC at all levels with a view to strengthening and revitalizing all the organs of the party so as to make them function effectively and with new zeal. The NPCC stated that it will continue to fight against the anti-people activities/policies of the DAN government perpetrated in the form of mass corruptions scandals, favouritism and nepotism, etc. Likewise, the NPCC resolved to steadfastly uphold the principle of the Congress towards the cause of the common people- Aam admi.
