NPCC reiterates demand for inquiry commission

Kohima, June 9 (MExN): The NPCC today reiterated its demand to the Governor of Nagaland PB Acharya for the appointment of an Impartial Inquiry Commission into the MGNREGA scheme in the state.

The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee demanded that the commission must be headed by a retired High Court Judge.

Welcoming the Governor’s attention to its earlier Memorandum on MGNREGA, NPCC President K Therie in a press statement claimed that MGNREGA funds in the state have continuously been siphoned off over the years.

Many of the villages have not received even one-third of the funds drawn, it alleged further lamenting that the State is yet to appoint Lok Ayukta despite the Congress’ demand.

NPCC further maintained that while the Vigilance Commission (State) has plenty of pending cases, the need for State Government’s sanction prior to Vigilance Commission’s action against any Government employees is a “major obstacle” for probing any case.
