NPCC slams IPR Comm & Secy

Dimapur, December 11 (MExN): Reacting to the justification given by the Commissioner and Secretary of IPR over the publication of a book highlighting the ‘achievements’ of the DAN Government; the NPCC said that any government officials whosoever is directly involved in political party activities may have to bear the consequences in their service career as disciplinary action would be attracted under the Government Servant Service Conduct Rules.

“The Commissioner & Secretary IPR fails to understand his function and duties as a Government Servant and going out of the way trying to justify officially the legal authority of the ‘Government of DAN’….If the Commissioner & Secretary IPR represents the ‘Government of DAN’ and not the Government of Nagaland we have nothing to say about the integrity of his office and the IPR Department?” said a rejoinder issued by its Media Cell member Vitsorel Lcho.

The NPCC has some misgivings with the IPR Department over the publication of a book by the department entitled, ‘5 years of peace, progress and development of the Government of Democratic Alliance of Nagaland’. On December 5, the IPR Commissioner & Secretary V Sakhire justified the publication of the book saying that the book is just about highlighting the activities of the state departments, and accused the Congress of politicizing the matter.

Lcho pointed out that the achievements of various departments under the Government of Nagaland are an ongoing process and that these Departments do not spring-up and disappear as and when a political party come and go out of power.

He asserted that the various state departments, though it function under the state government and different political parties, it does not become “Government of DAN or other Political Parties”. “It is surprising to note a Department under Government of Nagaland publishing a book for a political party,” the release said and added that any government servants involving in politics may have to bear the consequences since it may attract disciplinary action as per the service rules.

In the same vein, the NPCC reiterated that the publication of the book transpires that the DAN Government is using the IPR department as their party mouth piece to publicize he achievement of DAN.

The NPCC cautioned the DAN Government of using the services of the government officials and IPR department to highlight the claims and achievements made by the ‘Government of DAN.
