Terms it as strengthening of ‘secular forces’

DIMAPUR, MARCH 31 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPF) today said that the Naga People’s Front’s (NPF) decision to support the INC candidate, KL Chishi has “not only strengthened the secular forces but has also strengthened the demand for removal of CAB and the foremost important issue to carry forward the peace talks for a final solution.”
“The decision is magnanimous and is above political boundaries. NPF's sacrifice in the interest of secular forces will go a long way,” stated a press note from the NPCC President, K Therie.
The NPCC further said that the “battle is between the ideological forces of communal Hindutva vs Secularism and the freedoms it offers and the fabric of unity in diversity.”
“We are standing together to protect our faith and identity and to carry forward political negotiations for solution at the earliest,” it added.
The NPCC President further made an appeal to the NPF and “like-minded political parties and thinkers, to work together in the 26-Aolengden Assembly Constituency bye election.”
“If elected, we will support the secular NPF force. If INC MLA is elected, he will be the salt in the State Assembly curry,” it said.
Further, the NPCC said that if the Indian National Congress secures a victory in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, the party is “committed to support the formation of a secular like-minded government in the state.”
The NPF has not fielded any candidate for the Lok Sabha poll while its candidate for Aonglenden Assembly by-poll Toshipokba Longkumer withdrew his candidature.
The party lent its support to the Congress candidate for the LS poll, but remained unclear on its stance regarding the Congress candidate for the by-election to the 26th Aonglenden A/C.
