NPF aim: Acceptable solution to Indo-Naga political issues

Dimapur, February 12 (MExN): The working president of the Naga People’s Front (NPF), Apong Pongener has stated that the aims and objectives of the NPF is to bring acceptable solution to the Indo-Naga political issues, “to bring peace to our land and to work for unity and integrity of the Naga people by integrating all contagious Naga inhabited areas under one administrative roof”.
He said that in his message at various meetings with party workers in Kiphire, Tuensang and Mon. A press note received here today issued by the vice president, NPF, Central Office Dr I Longri, who is also the Tuensang district in-charge said that Apong emphasized that the NPF party workers need to work for unity and the party needs people with principles. “The birthright of the Nagas will never be denied and Nagas cannot afford to split again,” he added.
On developmental aspect he said that during the past eight years of DAN in power under the able leadership of Neipheiu Rio, the chief minister and Dr Shurhozelie, the president of NPF, many developmental works has been initiated and is continuously progressing in all "knocks and corners of Nagaland". He also cited an incident where an old man at a public meeting in Thonoknyu said: “After DAN Coming to power, Shri Neiphiu Rio has made all our land red and all our houses white.” He was referring to the massive developmental activities that are taking place after DAN coming to power.
“Our party is based at grass root. Unlike other national parties where political decisions are taken by high command in Delhi or elsewhere, in our party system people’s decision at grass root is out party decision. The cock party is the oldest regional party in the country and because of cock party the Nagas has survived as one people for so long,” he said.
Since November 2010, the NPF party workers has been touring all 13 divisions to study the party position, undergoing developmental activities and the grievances of the people at grass root level. The visiting central team consists of NPF working president, Apong Pongener as team leader, N Thaugwong, vice presidents - S Shingnyu Khiam, Dr I Longri and Khiapong, general secretary BP Hanghu, secretaries - Khrielezo Angami, Licho T Thonger, Hetoli Achumi and Yimsola and executive member Toshila Y Sangtam. The last group of central team starts its intensive tour on January 18 from Kohima and ends on January 25 at Mon after covering Kiphire, Shamator, Pathso, Tuensang, Tobu and Mon, the note said.
