DIMAPUR, JULY 31 (MExN): Naga People’s Front (NPF) Legislature Party today cautioned that following the publication of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam, a possible “fall-out” is “looming large.”
There is possibility of large scale migration into Nagaland; therefore, there is an urgent need to take preventive measures, a press note from the party stated. T
he NPF Legislature Party urged the government to immediately deploy more administrative and police forces to the border areas to assist the existing ones to tackle the issue and also keep in place an exigency system to prevent influx of illegal immigrants till a sustainable system can be put in place.
With regard to recent natural calamities in several parts of the State, the NPF Legislature Party expressed sorrow at the loss of lives in Aghunato and Phesama. It further stated that the present government has “failed its promise" to repair the HQ roads in sixty days. “But, at least it should give full effort to mitigate the sufferings of the commuters due to natural calamities and also compensate loss of lives,” it added.
Meanwhile, regarding the Parliamentary Standing Committee Report 213, the party stated that despite many important points that have been missed out in the history of Naga turmoil, it appreciated the committee for acknowledging the uniqueness of Naga History and the eagerness and desire of the Naga people for a permanent early solution. It also appreciated the committee for demanding an early solution to the Naga Political issue.
The party urged Parliament to discuss the Report 213 on the floor of both the Houses at the earliest, while adding that any solution should be inclusive.
