NPF dissolves Chizami unit, expels 15 office bearers

DIMAPUR, MARCH 2 (MExN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) has expelled fifteen members of the party’s Chizami unit. It further dissolved the 17th Chizami area unit of the party.

A press release from the NPF press bureau informed that the 17th Chizami Area Unit NPF office bearers had written an open letter on February 17 to the NPF President questioning the party’s move to suspend Rajya Sabha MP, KG Kenye for his support to the Citizenship Amendment Act in Parliament.

On receiving the open letter, the Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC) of the party issued a summon letter on February 29 to the signatories to appear in person on March 2 at the Central Office for clarification.

It further stated that the DAC opted not to either publish the summon letter in the local dailies nor upload in the official NPF Social Media Group with an intention that the matter may be amicably settled. “However, it is found that the summon letter of the DAC was uploaded in social media by the signatories of the open letter,” the NPF said.

“Instead of responding to the summon letter served by the DAC, you have openly defied not to appear in person before the DAC. The said communication not to appear in person was received by the DAC on February 29. Your first step in writing an open letter itself is a breach of party discipline. And your second step in uploading the summon letter in social media is also a breach of party discipline. And the third step in defying to appear in person before the DAC on the appointed time, place and date is also a breach of party discipline. And your fourth step in publishing as well as uploading in social media about your defiance to appear before the DAC is also another breach of party discipline,” the NPF stated, in its expulsion letter to the members.

It stated that on perusal of the records available relating to this matter and after proper application of mind, the DAC recommended expulsion of their membership from the party. The DAC termed the members’ actions as “open revolt against the party.”

In pursuance of the recommendation of the DAC, the party President, Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu expelled the 15 members with immediate effect and till further orders.

The President further ordered that the 17th Chizami area unit stands dissolved with immediate effect and till further order.

The expelled members include the unit’s President, three Vice Presidents, two General Secretaries, five Secretaries, one Press Secretary, the Youth Wing President, Farmer’s Wing President and Women’s Wing President.
