Says appointing new interlocutor at this juncture may delay solution
DIMAPUR, JULY 21 (MExN): The Naga People's Front (NPF), while congratulating RN Ravi on his new assignment as the Governor of Nagaland, expressed hope that with the new development, an amicable and acceptable solution to the Naga political issue is not far away.
A press release from the NPF press bureau appealed to the Government of India that RN Ravi’s new assignment “should not hamper the ongoing dialogue between the Government of India and the Naga political groups but expedite and bring solution at the earliest.”
“Ravi, who is an interlocutor on the Naga talks, is closely associated with the Naga problem and is now assigned with new office. The NPF seeks the wisdom of both the GoI and the Naga groups to hammer out the talks at the earliest,” it said.
It added that the new appointment should not delay the solution in any ways but be another milestone in bringing solution, which is a long felt desire of the Naga people for decades.
The NPF meanwhile reiterated its stand that the Naga political problem has been the top most priority of the party since its inception and that remains unchanged. The NPF expressed that it has high expectation from New Delhi that it will not play any delay tactics but give a sincere effort for the resolution of the Naga political problem. The NPF also asked the Central Government that Ravi's appointment as the Governor of the state should never hamper in delaying the talks and that appointing a new interlocutor at this juncture may delay the solution.
“The Naga people hope that through RN Ravi, the aspiration of Nagas will be met because of his long interaction and close association with all the negotiating groups on behalf of the Nagas including all civil societies covered by all Naga inhabited areas regardless of political boundaries,” the party hoped.
DPON welcomes Ravi’s appointment
Meanwhile, the Dimasa Public Organisation Nagaland (DPON) also echoed the same sentiments while welcoming the appointment of RN Ravi as Nagaland Governor. A press release from the DPON President, K Naben stated that Ravi’s appointment “signals the sincerity on the part of the Government of India on the long awaited solution to the vexed Naga political problem.”
“It will be interesting to see the new Governor’s role in finding the honourable and acceptable solution with his vast experience and wisdom,” the DPON added.
