NPF legislators appeal to exercise restraint

Kohima, August 14 (MExN): Five NPF legislators from Kohima district today maintained that the leadership dispute in the NPF party cannot be resolved in Nagaland. Therefore, till such time the ECI declares the verdict and hand over the party symbol and properties to the rightful and legal owner, it is the ardent wish and desire of the NPF party that the public in general and party cadres in particular exercise maximum restraint and maintain peace and tranquility, stated MLAs Dr. Neikesalie Nicky Kire, Er. Kropol Vitsu, Er. Vikho Yhoshü, Er. Levi Rengma, and Dr. Neiphriezo Keditsu in a statement.

Meanwhile, the legislators termed it unfortunate that Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu still clings on to his chair even after an ultimatum was issued to him to step down as the president of NPF. The 15-day ultimatum expired on August 13.

“The fact of the matter is the ongoing leadership dispute as well as the tussle in the NPF party is clearly an internal party affairs. Significantly, the ECI is seized of the matter and ultimately it shall be resolved by the ECI within no time,” it added.

Further, the MLAs asserted, “we are standing simply on the ground that Neiphiu Rio, MP (Lok Sabha) enjoys the support of a vast majority of NPF party organisation and TR Zeliang, Chief Minister commands the support of more than the 2/3rd absolute majority i.e 48 MLAs in the NPF led DAN government.”
