NPF resumes fight-back over law and order

Dimapur, Nov 16 (MExN): In a latest missive in the ongoing paper war between the NPF and the Opposition Congress over the law and order issue, the former explains that there is a difference between “subject” and “problem”. According to the NPF rejoinder (to an earlier Congress statement which, yet again was in reaction made to NPF Chief Dr Shurhozelie’s another rejoinder) ‘when factional clashes take place, problems are created and the state government takes up responsibility to control the same’.

“The subject and the problem are two different things. Yes, we know that when factional clashes or killings take place, it creates problem and the state government never failed to take up its responsibility in controlling the problem” the NPF through its Press Secretary R Paphino stated in reference to Dr Shurhozelie’s earlier statement that “murder, theft, riot etc are law and order subjects but killings among the UG factions do not come under law and order subject”.

The NPF maintained that the overall situation in Nagaland is peaceful and even as the Congress “talk so much about” DAN’s failure to control the situation, they should also know “the situation was awfully grim when they were running the affairs of Nagaland those days”. Also, the NPF stated that “right in front of them” senior central service officers were gunned down. “A saying goes ‘an idle brain is devil’s workshop’ similarly  when their mind is pensive and void they would have tendencies to invent and draw out illusory catchy slogans like ‘DAN will fall within 3 months, 6 months’, ‘CM to be disqualified on the office of profit issue’ etc etc which has never happened!” the NPF pointed out.

Also, as far as change of the regional party’s name and “freezing of cock symbol” are concerned, the change had to be made “in tune with the given situation”, it maintained reminding that regional principles, visions, aims and objective have remained steadfast over the last 42 years since inception.

“In view of the call of the unified voice of the Naga people not t hold general elections with a slogan ‘Solution and not election’, the regional party (NPC) accepted popular call of our people and did not participate in the state general election. Therefore, such stance of our party attracted contravention of certain provisions of election law which consequently led to freezing of cock symbol one time” the NPF clarified reminding that it is “alive, strong and kicking.” On the other hand the NPCC is a “defiance party”, according to the NPF. “Had you listened to the call of Naga Hoho, NSF, NMA, NPMHR and other civil societies in 1998, the position of the Nagas would have been different today! Factually, the NPCC and its members are entirely responsible fro the continuing mess in our society” it added.
