NPF revokes KG Kenye’s suspension

Kohima, March 30 (MExN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) revoked the suspension of KG Kenye on March 29, party president Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu informed on Wednesday. An order to this effect was issued on March 29, wherein Dr Leizietsu stated that the suspension of Kenye has been “revoked with immediate effect in the interest of the party.” Rajya Sabha member Kenye was suspended from the party on January 8, 2020, for voting in favour of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2019 in Parliament despite the Party’s resolution to oppose the Bill. At the time, Kenye had clarified that he had voted in favour of the Bill as it granted exemption to Nagaland under provision of the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation (BEFR) 1873.
