Kohima, August 12 (MExN): The NPF Youth Wing of 10th Northern Angami-I A/C today issued an ultimatum to the Neiphiu Rio led NPF to close down its office at Hotel Legacy and remove all party flags from the premise on or before August 13.
A press release from the youth wing president, Vilielhou Suokhrie and vice president, Pfulikhrie Keretsu informed that an “unauthorized and illegal” NPF office was inaugurated by Neiphiu Rio, the “so called” interim president, on August 10 at Hotel Legacy, Bayavü Hill, Kohima, which falls under the jurisdiction of 10 Northern Angami-I Assembly Constituency.
It maintained that NPF has only one president, Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu, who was duly elected in the General Convention on November 26, 2014 and the same was reaffirmed on April 30, 2015 and “there is no other president, interim or otherwise.”
The NPF, it added, has its legitimate and functional headquarters in the State Capital below Hotel Japfü and there is no other authorized NPF office in Kohima except division and AC unit offices.
“The action of Neiphiu Rio and his supporters opening an illegal NPF office under our jurisdiction is a direct challenge to our authority which is highly provocative and invite direct confrontation,” it stated.
Party youth wings support ultimatum
The Youth Wings of NPF, Kohima division and NPF Central have extended support to the ultimatum served by the NPF Youth Wing of 10th Northern Angami-1 A/C against Neiphiu Rio’s NPF office set up at Hotel Legacy in Kohima.
In a statement issued by its president, Mhashemeyie Neikha and working president, Khriezenyü Chielie, the Youth Wing of NPF Kohima division expressed resentment against “such illegal office to establish under any circumstances” in its jurisdiction. “The youth body shall fight tooth and nail if any such illegal office is set up,” it asserted.
Further, the Youth Wing warned against any unauthorized person hoisting party flags illegally without the permission from the party authority.
Meanwhile, it rejected and condemned the appointment of “interim president” stating such a post/ position is constitutionally un-mandated.
A separate statement from NPF Central Youth Wing condemned “such illegal and unauthorized office when NPF has a fully functional Office Headquarters located at PR Hill, Kohima, which is recognized by the Election Commission of India (ECI) and known by one and all.” Therefore, the Central Youth Wing implored upon all those “strayed away NPF” to come back to the party fold.
‘Utterly shocked & taken aback by ultimatum’
Kohima, August 12 (MExN): Following the ultimatum against NPF office set up at Hotel Legacy, NPF Youth Wing Kohima division of the Neiphiu Rio led party has issued a statement stating that the NPF Youth Wing of the 10th Northern Angami-I A/C are “utterly shocked and taken aback” by the letter of ultimatum submitted by the “minority NPF Youth Wing of the 10th Northern Angami-I A/C” today around 11:45 am at “Legacy Complex”, Bayavü Hill, Kohima.
The statement asserted that the NPF “headquarters” located at Legacy Complex is just a temporary office for communications with the ECI and to run the daily affairs of the party till such time the group officially occupies the NPF headquarters at PR Hill, Kohima.
“We are at the helm and our NPF led DAN Government is in absolute 2/3 majority and our hair has not moved even a nanometer by such threats and we shall stand the ground come what may,” it maintained.
“The Naga people know that the NPF under Neiphiu Rio is morally, legally and politically right and the Naga people also know that the truth shall prevail sooner rather than later.”
Meanwhile, it condemned the “extreme provocative actions of the minority NPF youth wing where they even went to the extent of warning us to remove the sacred party flags and to close the party office on or before August 13 on the fact that the Legacy Complex falls under the 10th Northern Angami electoral jurisdiction.”
