NPO appeals for peace in border areas

DIMAPUR, JUNE 6 (MExN): The Naga Public Organisation (NPO) Myanmar today reminded the Naga political groups and the Indian armed forces to maintain peace in the border areas and its vicinity in honour of the organisation’s request last month.

“Naga innocent public residing around the border in particular, also want equality concerning peace and cease fire. People in the border area are also like Nagas who are in the main land. But we don't understand as why our place is only used as battle field?” the NPO lamented.

It asserted that the Naga movement for self determination is a “people's centered movement and people are always with the movement.” “When people say we want peace, Naga groups also must understand and consider before the cooperation of the people shy away.” it added.

The NPO also requested the Indian side to consider the “extra difficulties faced by the people there” as there are many India-Myanmar friendship projects, sponsored by India which are underway.

The NPO asked Indian authorities that vehicular movement carrying construction materials from areas like Mon, Noklak, Phungkhuri, Meluri etc be allowed for project implementation convenience. “It's not possible to carry materials from Khamti, Lahe, Lashee and Namyung,” it informed. It also requested free movement of motor cycles and people moving for marketing. “Unless a person, vehicle or motor cycle is found with unwanted things, allow people who are simply going for meeting relatives and shopping because,” it urged.
