National People’s Party (NPP) national president and Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma today expressed confidence that his party will come out victorious in the upcoming bye-elections to the three Assembly seats slated for October 30.

Sangma however told reporters that the party, its leaders and the candidates cannot take things lightly as there is no question of being overconfident.

“We know that the people will support us but it is our duty to work till and ensure we win with a maximum margin possible so we will work hard and with the kind of support and response we are getting from the people, I am very sure in all the three constituencies we will come out with flying colours,” he said.

Sangma was accompanying the two candidates from Mawryngkneng and Mawphlang – Pyniaid Sing Syiem and Lamphrang Blah – during the filing of nominations for the bye-elections.

The CM said that the question of anti-incumbency does not arise.
