NPSC reacts to clerks’ story

Dimapur, June 9 (MExn): The Nagaland Public Service Commission today brushed aside the contentions of two clerks who wrote to the local media earlier giving their side of the story. The two clerks are accused of involvement in the recent answer script-swapping scandal in the commission.

A response was received from the NPSC’s secretary Dellirose Sakhrie today. The NPSC said the two clerks Zhavekholu, assistant superintendent and Phuholi Sema, UDA, were placed under suspension, for misusing their official position to tamper with some answer scripts of the NCS, NPS & Allied Services (Main) Examinations for year 2008 and Lecturer’s Recruitment Examination, 2008.

The action of the Nagaland Public Service Commission was based on material and “irrefutable evidence which came to light when the commission carried out scrutiny of evaluated answer scripts of all the candidates who are qualified for viva voce of the said examinations”. The commission said it exercised authority and immediately placed the erring staffers under suspension and also nullified the candidature of eleven candidates for the said recruitment examinations. The candidates were also debarred from appearing any examination for the next three years, the NPSC said.

“The commission also filed an FIR and reported the matter to the police who are now investigating the matter,” it stated.  Till the investigations are complete and the truth is revealed, the commission said, the Press fraternity is requested to “exercise utmost prudence” and refrain from publishing “unsubstantiated versions” which are “misleading”.
