NPWD Engineer-in-Chief takes voluntary retirement

Kohima, January 25 (MExN): A farewell programme in honour of Kahuli Sema, outgoing Engineer-in-Chief, NPWD was held at conference hall, NPWD Complex Kohima on January 24. 

Media Cell, NPWD in a press release stated that Er Kahuli Sema, the ‘first women Engineer-in-Chief among the Sumi community and the second within the Nagas’ in her farewell speech thanked “God for making her a part and parcel of a very large and wonderful department --the department that she dreamt to be a part of when she was the child.”

Citing reason for her voluntary retirement, Sema said, “after serving the government for 34  and a half year, she would have taken rest to enjoy a peaceful life with her family, but instead, she has taken a voluntary retirement to play a bigger role as she wants to be a part of the development.” She also stated that ‘she wants to bring changes to the people, but in order to that she has to be in the highest decision making body which is politics. Therefore, she is availing this voluntary retirement to participate in politics.’ 

On the issue of women empowerment, she stated that it should not only be confined within the corridors of bureaucracy or other fields, but it should also be spanned towards political field. 

Sema also welcomed and congratulated the newly recruited SDOs and JEs, and said that their prayers has been answered because they have worked hard and prayed hard. She expounded the new recruits to be not so selective of postings, but instead, take it as an opportunity to explore and ascertain people needs and grievances and serve them well. 

“If you’re confined at one place or being so inclined toward comfort zones then you will not understand the people’s needs and their shortfalls,” she added.
