The Nagaland Pradesh Youth Congress (NPYC) today launched a poster campaign across the state in protest against the deplorable road condition in Nagaland.

In the capital Kohima, the NPYC launched their campaign at NPWD complex junction and demanded good roads across the state.

“NPF-BJP led potholes government,” “Good road citizen right,” “15 yrs DAN government development pothole road,” read some of the posters pasted in different corners of the state capital.

NPYC president Vilhousilie Kenguruse told media persons that they had undertaken the poster campaign to register its anguish over the pitiable road condition in the state.

He alleged the 15 years NPF government has been typified by the hunger for power and money. They fight among themselves instead of talking development matter for the welfare and upliftment of the society, he stated.

Reminding that the NPF in its 2013 manifesto mentioned “Peace for Development and Development for Peace,” he however stated that “today we can see that it turned into Peace for Pothole and Pothole for Peace.”

The NPYC President claimed crores of money had been sanctioned to the department for various schemes like NLCPR, PMGSY, NEC, Chief Minister Road Fund and Annual Road Maintenance Fund but those funds became pocket money for Ministers.

NPYC demanded that the schemes be strictly implemented for the welfare of the society. Kenguruse alleged that every year the state faces the problem of bad roads and demanded that the Ministers and concerned department immediately implement the schemes.

Informing that the NPYC had already filed an RTI with the PWD on August 4 regarding centrally sponsored schemes and annual road maintenance fund, he said “We will wait 30 days and act according to the reply given by the department.”

Demands CBI inquiry

Meanwhile, the NPYC also demanded CBI inquiry into MKR Pillai case and said that 99% of the public want the case to be handed over to the CBI.
