Kohima, September 15 (MExN): The Longding Battalion under the aegis of DAO division apprehended one NSCN (K) cadre and two over ground workers (OGWs) of NSCN (IM) on September 14 and 15 from Longding and Niausa in Arunachal Pradesh respectively.
A defence press release stated that Lance Corporal Penom Konyak was apprehended “based on specific intelligence about presence of one cadre trying to terrorize and attempting extortion in Longding Town.” He was apprehended with a pistol and live ammunition, the release said. “Post spot interrogation, he admitted allegiance to NSCN (K), further divulging that he had been recruited in NSCN (K) in March 2007 and has been involved with the banned outfit ever since,” it added.
Meanwhile, Ganglaih Gangsa and Chailai Wangsu, OGWs of NSCN (IM) were apprehended based on specific intelligence about presence of cadres attempting extortion in Niausa village, the release further said. According to the release, the duo admitted allegiance to NSCN (IM).
