NSCN (IM) appreciates support from various quarters

DIMAPUR, JULY 22 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) has expressed gratitude to all concerned who extended help and support after the July 11 killing of 6 of its cadres at Nginu village in Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh.

“Supporters of Naga political movement raised banners at the United Nations (UN) plaza in front of the UN office in Geneva, Switzerland,” a press release from the MIP of the NSCN (IM) stated. It further noted that “despite facing many hurdles because of the ongoing lockdown in the battle against Covid-19, no stone was left unturned by the Naga civil society organizations (CSOs) to bring home the mortal remains to their respective Naga villages.” However, the mortal remains of two whose villages are situated beyond the Indian border of Myanmar could not be taken to their respective homes, it informed.

The NSCN (IM) thanked the Naga Hoho, NMA, Tangkhul Union, Wancho Nagas (Wancho Council), ANSF, Longding district administration, Dibrugarh Hospital authority, NSF, DNSU, NCD, the Government of India’s Cease Fire Monitoring Group (CFMG) Chairman, UNC, NWU, ANSAM, TNL, Mao Council, and State Governments of Assam, Nagaland and Manipur.

It also appreciated the condolence message delivered by the Working Committee of Naga National Political Groups on the death of the six Naga Army personnel. Further the NSCN (IM) acknowledged Tangkhul Naga professionals living in cities and elsewhere who gathered donations within themselves and distributed Rs 50,000 each to the bereaved families.

“There are many agencies, friends and well-wishers who also played a very effective and vital role throughout,” it added.

The NSCN (IM) meanwhile claimed that it took five days to bring home the mortal remains “because many unseen forces were at work not to allow our martyred soldiers’ bodies to reach their homes, but for the thundering spirit of our togetherness to bring home our heroes led by the NH and NMA despite all the odds against them, we ultimately succeeded.”
