Phek, December 2 (MExN): Under the supervision of chief administrative officer (CAO) NSCN (IM), Chakhesang Region, Zhokhoneyi Soho and Town Commander, Maj Rockson seized 42 cases of MC rum and one case of beer under the jurisdiction of Phek village by its cadre on November 28 last.
The seized items were destroyed on November 29 in the presence of Phek Village Council (PVC) members, Phek Village Baptist Church (PVBC) leaders, students’ leaders of Phekmi Collegiate Forum (PCF), Phek Students' Union (PSU), leaders from women and youth and the general public.
According to a press release issued by PVC, Secretary, Vepichi Keyho, the seizure of the banned substances by the authority of the NSCN (IM) Chakhesang Region is a welcome gesture and commendable deed.
The PVC on behalf of all frontal organizations and public have affirmed support to stand against inflow of such banned substances within its jurisdiction and “will continue to lend support and cooperation to any group, society” for such cause.
Meanwhile, the Council also warned that anyone caught involved in such activities shall face consequences as would deem fit and shall be solely held responsible at his or her own risk.
