Dimapur, Jan 11 (MExN): The NSCN-IM in a rebuttal to the charges leveled by its rival, pointed out that “failure” of its Ato Kilonser Th Muivah to get an appointment with the Indian Prime Minister should not be interpreted as ‘humiliation’ and clarified that it was due to “unavoidable unscheduled engagements that cropped up”. “And Manmohan Singh being head of the enormous Indian nation, his responsibilities went beyond intentions”, the NSCN (IM) stated in a press communiqué issued by the MIP. Stating that Muivah’s short stay at Delhi was not worthless, it was informed that he had meetings with other Indian leaders to abreast them with in-depth unique history and situation of the Naga people so that they may well understand and respect the people and their rights.
Also in apparent response to Chairman Isak Chishi Swu being dubbed “subordinate” to Muivah vis-à-vis peace talks, the NSCN-IM pointed out that he joins or intervenes in meetings only when required. “Chairman Isak Chishi Swu is well monitoring and guiding the peace dialogue from his office; all issues in the peace process are advancing only after his consultation and consent. He joins or intervenes in meetings only when required. Hence, the Nagas should not be carried away by sinister false propagandas by Khaplangs or anyone” it stated while highlighting the ‘integrity and honor of His Excellency Yaruiwo’s office’.
Further stating that the Chairman does not comment anything to the media or anyone prior to consultation with the Naga people, the MIP maintained that any media interviews or comments will be given or made only after substantive issues are resolved after consultations with the people.
As for the arrival of the Ato Kilonser to India or Nagalim, it was officially declared and hence he was received accordingly” it stated. Also it was clarified that the arrival of the Chairman was done “through the GPRN’s convenience and will, following the threat posed by few treacherous antagonists”.
On the matter of the Collective Leadership’s passports ‘failing’ to be renewed and that without options they have returned to Nagaland, the MIP release pointed out that the leaders came to the state to interact with the people.
Also, the Indo-Naga peace talks are held at the Prime Minister level so Ato Kilonser (Prime Minister) Th. Muivah is interacting with the GOI since it is not the ‘entire Naga tribal representatives of more than 46 to be engaged into a dialogue with Manmohan Singh, who himself is also representing multitudes of races, creeds, classes and peoples of India’.
Maintaining that a few misled antagonists were attempting to incite divisive rifts within the Naga family, the NSCN (IM) pointed out that “their pseudo nationalism proclaimed in their struggle for illusive sovereignty has remained their insignia” and “their sovereignty has gone into hibernation while anti-Naga acts of divisionism, communalism, tribalism, terrorisms, falsehood, media libels, deception, threats and intimidations, permeating confusions, killing innocent people, extortions and demands and misleading propagandas, have been the hallmark of their struggle for the nation”.
On charges that it was manipulating the media, the NSCN (IM) stated that this was entirely false and instead alleged that it was the NSCN (K) using the media to serve their malicious threats and misleading statements to malign the Naga leaders image.
“The NSCN/GPRN is not having a dialogue with India for itself but for the common cause of all the Nagas. So if one proclaims that he is fighting for the cause of the Nagas, then one should forward not with destructive and divisive contributions but positive, practicable and beneficial contributions towards our common national political cause” it added.
