DIMAPUR, APRIL 2 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) today condemned the alleged “unwarranted raid and arrest” of its Steering Executive member, Zaremo Murry along with his wife and a lady helper from his residence at Burma Camp, Dimapur on April 1 at 4:00pm by the 32 Assam Rifles.
A press note from the MIP of the NSCN (IM) claimed that Murry was “falsely accused as a member of Khaplang group.” “He was forcibly made to sign as a worker of NSCN (K). It may be noted that Zaremo joined the NSCN/GRPN in 2016 after discharging himself from NSCN (Reformation),” it informed.
The NSCN (IM) said that “frequent raids, arresting and targeting national workers by Indian armed forces/agencies undermining ceasefire ground rules” is undesirable and detrimental to the prevailing peaceful atmosphere. “Long awaited peaceful solution should not be relegated to the backburner due to such un-mindful action of Indian armed forces,” it cautioned. It further stated that “arresting the two innocent women civilians without any rhyme and reason is tantamount to violation of human rights…”
It asked the Government of India to “immediately control its armed cadres to behave and adhere to the agreed ceasefire ground rules,” and demanded that the senior leader along with his wife and the lady helper be released unconditionally.
