NSCN (IM) ‘consultative meeting’ held in Meluri

Meluri, August 25 (MExN): A team from the NSCN (IM) led by K. Chawang, Convenor CFMC, held a consultative meeting with prominent leaders of Meluri area at Meluri Town on August 23.  

According to a press release from the Pochury Hoho, Kilonser, V. Makritsü, and Speaker Tatar Hoho, Zarshie Nyuthe, were the main speakers where they highlighted the framework agreement of August 3, 2015 and the present on-going talks with the Government of India.  

Hundreds consisting of frontal organisations, range presidents, religious leaders, village council chairmen, VDB Secretaries, Head GB’s, women leaders, village youth presidents, pastors and many prominent leaders under Pochury area, attended the meeting where the “sincerity and the urgency” and keenness shown by the central government in solving the protracted problems of the Nagas was mentioned, the release stated.  

During the meeting, the members of the house reaffirmed the mandate and declaration of various Naga consultative meets, particularly the 4th consultative meeting of January 20 to 21, 2005 at Hebron and August 25, 2015 at Niathu Resort, Dimapur, the release informed.  

“Naga political settlement is the only means to safeguard the future of the Nagas,” the Hoho stated and in this regard made an appeal to all concern stakeholders to give a concerted effort in finding a solution.  

Later the house reaffirmed and strongly appealed to all Naga Political Groups to maintain maximum restraint and prevent conflicts and misunderstandings “in order to maintain peace and tranquility in Pochury area and our Naga areas as a whole”.  

“Naga people, in the spirit of forgiveness and oneness, will ceaselessly strive and work for restorative unity for the common purpose towards achieving our political aspiration,” the Pochury Hoho stated.
