NSCN-IM denounce anti-social activities

DIMAPUR, DEC 4 (MExN): The NSCN-IM has strongly condemned the recent serial assaults and looting of public leaders, student leaders and lecturers at Kohima. Condemning these acts, the MIP in a press communiqué said “with the advent of the Hornbill festival and the festive Christmas seasons in the offing the anti-social activists have stepped up their nefarious activities with ulterior motive and design”. 

“With the intent to permeate fear psychosis and cast the dark shadow of insecurities, thus vitiating the peaceful and calm atmosphere of Nagalim during which happy holidays crowded by a host of visitors from different places out of Nagalim who have come to enjoy and observe the rich, colourful and vibrant cultural and customary festivities of the Nagas. Orchestrating their selfish attitudes and disrespectful dispositions in dishonorably assaulting the Naga Hoho Vice-President, Keviletuo Kiewhuo, and looting him off Rs 21,000/- and two mobile handset on November 29 is a stark reminder of the anti-social extent,” the NSCN-IM stated. 

Strongly denouncing the inhuman and brutal assault to the two lecturers Mitwatei, Statistic Assistant Medical Directorate and Keyichet, Lecturer of Modern College Kohima on December 1 and the consecutive unwanted incidence of assaulting the students’ leader Khehovi Shohe, former President of Sumi Students Union Kohima and looting his mobile set on December 2, the NSCN-IM said “Such acts of immaturity and uncivilized, which could have a negative impression of our Naga society to the outside world”. The NSCN-IM further called on the Naga people to treat the present situation with wisdom.
