Dimapur, January 12 (MExN): The Western Sumi Hoho-initiated “unification” is a “closed chapter” for the NSCN-IM, stated the outfit. It also has no ‘attachment’ with the “unification declaration” of January 10 at Zunheboto, a note from the MIP stated.
“With regard to Naga unification initiated by Western Sumi Hoho in collaboration with the dismissed NSCN Kilo Kilonser Azheto Chophy, it is a closed chapter for the NSCN. As such the unification declaration of January 10, 2008 at Zunheboto is within the representatives of Azheto's group. NSCN's name has no standing representation in such meeting. There should be no confusion in as much as NSCN has no attachment with such meeting initiated by defectors and traitors. No effort will bear fruits of any value…” the MIP stated.
The NSCN-IM maintained that “pushing headlong into the unification program” just for the “heck of obsession” with the name of Naga unification will lead the Nagas nowhere, no matter who initiated such move. “…any unilateral decision exploiting or hijacking the good name of NSCN will only end up polarization in the Nagas' movement for a place of honor and respect in the political map of the world” it condescended.
The statement also remarked that “the main figures in the unification group are now shifting the use of K unification group whenever and wherever it suited them. For, by principle, they are no different from each other.” While expressing regret that “the overbearing misadventure by the leaderships of the Western Sumi Hoho and Sumi Hoho have heavily contaminated the Sumi political career,” the outfit said that even in the face such ‘political misfortune’ the might of the Sumis in the national movement cannot be discounted, considering the fact that top leaders of the Sumis in NSCN set up still stand by the national principle like a rock of ages.” They constitute the “saving pride” of the Sumis in the national movement under the NSCN-IM, the MIP acknowledged.
“… the Nagas' credibility in pushing forward the struggle for the deserved political status will be at stake if allowed to be guided by parochialism at the cost of Naga national interest” it added.
