NSCN (IM) regions say Naga flag and constitution must be part of solution

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 28 (MExN): Several regions of the NSCN (IM) today reaffirmed their stand that the Indo-Naga political solution should be based on the Framework Agreement (FA) signed between the Government of India and the NSCN (IM) on August 3, 2015.

The NSCN (IM) Union Territory (UT) reiterated its support to the ongoing peace process under the collective leadership of Q Tuccu, President; Tongmath Wangnao, Vice President and Th. Muivah, Ato Kilonser of the NSCN (IM).

A press release from Kikheto Chishi, Caretaker, CAO, UT and John M Yim, Secretary, UT said:  “We stand that recognising the identity and unique history of the Nagas is recognising the Naga flag and Yehzabo (Constitution) and that any solution to Naga political problem without flag and Yehzabo will be a repetition of past agreements which cannot bring permanent peace.”

It therefore asked the Government of India to exercise its political will to solve the Indo- Naga political conflict based on Framework Agreement and Naga national flag and Yehzabo.

The Ao Region of the NSCN (IM) also informed that it held a meeting on September 26 and unanimously affirmed to support the August 3, 2015 Framework Agreement. A press release from P Lima Kichu, CAO, Ao Region; and N Tia Jamir, Secretary, Ao Region declared that “no solution shall be honourable or acceptable without the Naga national fag and Yehzabo (Constitution).”

The NSCN (IM)’s Angami Region also stated that “if the much speculated solution talks are to be concluded it should be based on the August 3, 2015 Framework Agreement, which will be honourable and acceptable to all Nagas.” A press release from Zeneituo Angami, CAO, Angami Region, NSCN (IM) declared “unflinching support to the Framework Agreement,” and stated that it should be implemented in letter and spirit for an honourable settlement between the two entities.
