NSCN-IM shows olive branch, criticism

Dimapur, Nov 9 (MExN): The NSCN-IM, even while highlighting what it implied is the ambiguity and uncertainty in the direction the NSCN-K is taking in the movement, called for forgiveness in reconciliation and “realize our mistakes”

“Let us not be swayed by our emotions or egos and add further salt to our wounds but realize our mistakes and seek a united approach to our common problems with forgiveness in reconciliation” and MIP GPRN release stated. “Concocted or false divisive tales ad ploys can no more mislead the Nagas for the present generation is now well-familiarized with the cock and bull story of collaborators” it added.

However, the NSCN-IM took strong exception of its rival’s “tribalistic divergence with contradictory statements, straying away from Naga national political objectives” and proceeded to point out the ambiguity in the stand of the NSCN-K.

“To be more precise, there is hardly any article written by them where you would not find the word ‘Tangkhul’ or other abrasive languages with divisive elements to entangle the Naga people into the haywire of distrust and dichotomy on tribal lines” the MIP release stated, asserting that how the quit notice to the community was issued, remains vague “by the manner through which it was announced and asserted”. Stating that every political entity has an established hierarchy of authority and functions adhered to by protocol, the NSCN-IM expressed astonishment that the NSCN-K has a “self-styled and disorderly mode of functioning”. It cited as instance that Brig Nikki and Col Aheto entered into the recent bi-lateral ceasefire with the NSCN-IM in Zunheboto through the initiatives of Sumi civil organizations.

However, the next day Kilonser Kughalu Mulatonu declared in the local dailies that the two did not represent them (NSCN-K) and were unofficial. ‘Whatever agreement the two army officers of Khaplang entered with the NSCN was annulled and declared void of accreditation” the release stated. Also, the quit notice was announced by the NSCN-K’s MIP and also Ato Kilonser Kitovi “in ambiguity sidelined himself to the comment that it is confined to only partial areas. In conformity of their illusiveness, another statement that the quit notice will prevail even after the Naga political solution is arrived at, was released, the NSCN-IM added.
The organization opined that “it would be appropriate if such pronunciations came from their Chairman, Ato Kilonser or Commander-n-Chief to be held credible” and also asked if the NSCN-K leaders are “vying to trounce themselves from the blame of their political and humanistic blunder to evade all accountability they hold?” To this, the NSCN-IM  stated that all justifications or fabrications will not be able to hide the trail of ‘the dishonest, for the truth and their witnesses will continue to sustain’ and that the NSCN-K should realize their mistake for accommodating corrupt and mendacious individuals “who are polluting the national movement” who are causing the people harassment and hardship.
