NSCN (IM) Somdal national workers reaffirm their commitment to Th Muivah’s leadership

DIMAPUR, MAY 5 (MExN): In a political consultative meeting held on April 29, at Wungram Colony, Dimapur, the Somdal national workers of the NSCN (IM)) reaffirmed their allegiance to Th Muivah, the Chief Political Negotiator and General Secretary-Ato Kilonser (Prime Minister) of the NSCN (IM), acknowledging his enduring role in the Naga national movement and pledging to carry forward the struggle for a sovereign Nagalim.

The meeting at Muivah’s official residence and brought together Somdal-origin members of the organization. A resolution adopted during the meeting declared Muivah’s leadership as foundational in consolidating the political basis of the Nagalim movement.

The resolution stated that Muivah “has consolidated Nagalim Political Foundation in defending Nagalim unique history and Nagalim sovereignty,” and recognized his decades-long contributions toward this goal. Members specifically highlighted the rejection of the 1975 Shillong Accord and the formation of the NSCN in 1980 as a pivotal moment defending Naga identity.

The resolution further stated: “The condemnation of the betrayed 1975 Shillong Accord and the subsequent formation of the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN) in 1980 is in defence of Nagalim unique history and Nagalim sovereignty.”

The consultative meeting stressed that the Indo-Naga political dialogue, initiated on August 1, 1997, had acknowledged the political nature of the Naga issue. “The Indo-Naga Political dialogue… recognized and acknowledged that Nagalim is not the internal matter of India… and the political dialogue began with due recognition and acknowledgement of Nagalim sovereignty,” the resolution said, pointing to the talks being held at the Prime Ministerial level, without preconditions, and in a third country.

The members also referenced the Amsterdam Joint Communiqué of July 11, 2002, as a key milestone. They stated, “The Government of India has officially recognized and acknowledged the unique history and situation of Nagalim admitting that Nagalim was/is never a part of India… Therefore, the Amsterdam Joint communiqué… officially admits Nagalim sovereignty.”

The meeting also expressed appreciation for the Framework Agreement signed on August 3, 2015, by late Chairman Isak Chishi Swu and Muivah. The resolution stressed that “the letter and spirit of the Framework Agreement… officially recognize and acknowledge the sovereign Nagalim national flag and the sovereign Nagalim national constitution.”

The participants resolved to continue the movement with unwavering determination: “We shall carry forward Nagalim national struggle based on the national foundation and legacy laid down by the Chief Political Negotiator, Th. Muivah… to the last, come what may.”

The resolution was unanimously endorsed by all Somdal national workers of the NSCN, with signatures from the Convener and Secretary on behalf of the collective.
