NSCN (K) indict rival of extorting salary in Longleng

DIMAPUR DEC 4 (MExN): The NSCN (K) has accused its rival the NSCN (IM) of ‘withholding’ salaries of state government employees of Longleng district for the last several months.

In a release the Regional Chairman, Phom Region, NSCN (K), while calling for condemnation against the withholding of salaries to the employees, accused its rivals of keeping the people of the district at ransom and extorting their hard-earned monthly salaries. “The people of Longleng district has been experiencing untold miseries caused by the I-M group for the past several months” it stated while maintaining that the Longleng district administration, NGOs and the law-enforcing agencies were aware of the developments but so far no agencies of public interest have attempted to check or condemn the ‘acts of terror’. It further alleged that the sub-treasury Officer (STO) Longleng, had handed over an amount of Rs 6, 00,000/- (rupees six Lakhs) meant for Longleng district employees to Phukhum Phom, APO of the NSCN (IM).

The NSCN (K) in this regard directed the STO Longleng to immediately recover double the amount of which was given to the NSCN (IM) through Phukhum Phom before the forthcoming Christmas. Failure to comply with this direction, the NSCN (K) would take stern action besides ‘the STO would face the wrath of the general public of the district’. It also warned of dire consequences the government officials, NGOs and individuals involved in assisting the NSCN (IM) through diversions of public funds/money meant for developmental activities etc.
