NSCN-K reasserts agenda for sovereignty

Dimapur, Jan 9 (MExN): Maintaining that the NSCN-IM ‘still does not know the political agenda of the Nagas’, the NSCN-K reasserts its adamancy on the single agenda of sovereignty.

Taking note of news reports highlighting the rival group as having a ‘thirty one points of competencies’ to discuss with “a retired Home Secretary of India”, an NSCN-K MIP release stated that these points have now been revised to twenty points agenda for the peace process.

“But the NSCN/GPRN has only a single agenda i.e., the sovereignty of Nagaland” it stated adding that the issue was explicitly raised by the Naga Club in 1929 to the British Simon Commission. “It had been reinforced by the then NNC in 1940s and strengthened by AZ Phizo in the 1950s which was unfortunately betrayed by some FGN leaders through the infamous Shillong Accord of 1975. Undeterred by such discrepancy, the NSCN/GPRN is unwaveringly pursuing the sovereignty agenda of the Nagas” the MIP release maintained.

Informing that the present day Naga is not “foolish” as the rival faction, the NSCN-K advised against ‘talking’ any more about the political agenda of the NSCN.

“They are doing this to undermine the NSCN and create cheap political mileage for them. Leaving aside the Naga Hoho, NSF and NPMHR, the NSCN/GPRN will keep close with Naga tribal Hohos, tribal students unions and other Naga organizations in the pursuit of the Naga sovereignty” it assured.
